A Campaign for Change

Hratch Aynedjian is committed to positive change and will:

  • Fight to lower property taxes;
  • Provide leadership on community safety and crime prevention;
  • Clean up our ward by putting an end to all graffiti and illegal signs;
  • Champion green spaces and environmental initiatives;
  • Work to improve our cherished municipal services;
  • Take on measures to reduce gridlock on our streets; and
  • Help make our ward a better place to live, work, and raise our children.
Hratch Aynedjian has proposed a ten-point plan to fight crime:
  1. Establish a task force that will work with community groups to coordinate a comprehensive and practical strategy to crime prevention.
  2. Initiate crime and safety audits to help identify concerns and target potential areas of criminal activity.
  3. Lobby higher levels of government to impose tougher sentences for violent crimes, including minimum sentences for all repeat offenders.
  4. Make crime prevention a basic element of community planning.
  5. Ensure the timely enforcement of property standards.
  6. Implement a zero tolerance policy for graffiti, illegal signs and garbage dumping.
  7. Establish business improvement areas as well as support community and tenant associations.
  8. Work with schools to make facilities available after-hours and on weekends for youth recreation and programs.
  9. Expand innovative programs such as City Watch and utilize technology such as infrared cameras to detract criminal activities.
  10. Stop marijuana grow house operations in our communities.
